Through a concerted effort, Missouri Simmental Association members exhibiting at Missouri State Fair were given the opportunity by Director Mark Wolfe to trial run bedding on chipped wood in the Simmental Barn. The wood was graciously donated by James Hentges and Hentges Tree Service.
Special thanks to Missouri State Fair Director Mark Wolfe for working so well with us for years and for allowing us this opportunity, to Linda Hickam, DVM, State Veterinarian for supporting it, to James Hentges for his generosity in providing the chipped wood and to Steve Kusgen, MSA member for removing the sand.
Longtime Missouri Simmental Association (MSA) member Scott Cowger is asking for your support as he seeks another term on the American Simmental Association (ASA) Board. Your ballot from ASA will arrive soon, if not already. He is asking that you submit his name as a “write-in” candidate:
Dear Missouri Simmental Association friends,
I am excited about the opportunity to represent the members of the South Central Region on the ASA Board for another three years if elected! I have been actively involved within the Simmental breed for over 30 years coming up through the AJSA program and currently the ASSA (American Simmental/Simbrah Association) having served on the Activities and Events Committee, Policies and Procedures and chair the Building and Ground Committee. I have enjoyed the challenges and opportunities that these first three years have presented and would love the opportunity to serve another term to continue towards enhancing our breeds.
I passionately believe in the future of the Simmental/Simbrah breeds and am excited about the progress we have made in the beef industry. The future looks great for the Simmental/Simbrah breeds and I can assure you I will continue to represent the membership to the best of my abilities. I look forward to working for our membership and continue our progress, being the industry leader in genetic evaluations, EPD’s and providing leadership for the future. Thank you again for giving the opportunity to serve the South Central Region as an ASA Trustee and I look forward to working for you if you vote me onto the board.
If you have any questions for Scott, please give him a call at 816/304-0371.
Missouri Simmental Association State Fair Membership Meeting is to be held on Friday, August 12 during the Missouri State Fair. We will plan on lunch around 12:30 at the Simmental barn and the meeting will follow at approximately 1:15. Please plan to attend and be a part of this great organization. We need everyone’s ideas, input, and help to get this organization strong and working for the breeders. Please share this information with any Simmental breeders that might want to come. If you plan on having lunch with us, please shoot us back an email so we can get a headcount for lunch. See at the fair!
